"Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong."Ella Fitzgerald
Born and raised in Moscow, Karina Rosina (also known as Karina Ashurov) had a childhood filled with music. She was involved in many children's choirs, often contributing as a solo singer and eventually began studying at different music schools. In 1990 Karina decided to move to Vienna to pursue her passion for music.
She took up studying Instrumental and Vocal pedagogy with a special focus on Jazz in Vienna where Ines Reiger has inspired and sparked her interest in jazz during her formative years, as well as showed her the importance of music and pedagogy. Since then, Karina Rosina has taught jazz at different institutions, among them a private Viennese conservatory, various private music schools and she also took part in music programs offered by public schools. Now, the center of her life has become teaching and making music with an admirable, contagious passion and dedication.
On top of fostering the love for music in young, promising singers, she herself remains an active lead singer in various bands and ensembles, such as currently with The Urban Night Band. Although Karina Rosina's years of training and expertise are mostly in Jazz, she has written songs in a Funk formation, but is also a force of nature to be reckoned with when working with Soul and R'n'B material. Recently, she has revived her Russian roots, taking on Russian ballads, old and new songs alike, and putting a new, fresh and charmingly jazzy twist on them.
